Another Dravidian -style temple that is extremely photogenic is the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Temple. Often considered a twin of the Virupaksha Temple, this shrine makes for an impressive sight against the backdrop of a clear blue sky.Here you’ll find intricately-carved pillars depicting stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata, the two famous Hindu epics. Mallikarjuna Temple also houses a couple of famous stone reliefs, those of Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) and Mahishasura Mardini (the Goddess who annihilated a powerful demon).Built in Dravidian style, the Temple has 3 mukhamandapas on 3 sides with a partially collapsed stone nandi mandapa.The mukhamandapas and the pillars of the hall have wonderful carvings of Gods and scenes from Ramayana, Mahabharata and Panchatantra.
